Door on the Mediterranean
Mixed Use

A “Door” on the Mediterranean

SYMBOLIC VALUE

A new gateway on the Mediterranean, a conceptual entrance point to welcome newcomers.

SOCIAL – CULTURE VALUE

An avant – garde complex, symbol of a new era of reception centres and port services, a museum with four 500 sq.m. exhibition halls, restaurants and innovative communication structures.

EXPRESSIVE AND FIGURATIVE VALUE

A long garden full of flowers and fountains climbs up from the pier to reach a terrace over the sea bordered by two long impressive structures on each side. Below, another light transparent structure with much room for commercial activities and offices accompanied by a mysterious hull – shaped construction destined to become the new Marine Museum.

ALBERT I MUSEUM

A semi – transparent hull detached from the ground, enhanced by the changing reflections of the light from water below. Being semi – transparent, the sea and the port are always visibly present in all the exhibition halls. This constant presence will be accompanied by the story of how civilization of Mediterranean peoples has developed over the centuries. The formal emotional architecture, the virtual reality stations, the collection of cartographic and historical findings will make the new Marine Museum of Monaco a unique place to visit.
